Perry Johnson
Chair, Kingston Representative

Perry represents the Aylesford area where he resides with his wife and children. Born and raised in Greenville, Yarmouth County, he was first elected as Chair in 2001. Perry is member of the Canadian Armed Forces stationed at 14 Wing in Greenwood.

Geraldine Browning
Vice Chair, Gibson Woods Representative

Mrs.B as she is known throughout Nova Scotia has lived in the Valley for over 40 years She has a reputation as someone who gets things done. She has spent the better part of her life advocating for others, whether in the role of teacher, nurse or community advocate. She has served on several boards for both community organizations as well as Government.

Kenny Duncan
Treasurer, Wolfville Representative

Now in his second year as a member of the VANSDA Board, he now serves as a member of the Executive Committee as Treasurer for the oganization. Employed by Scotiabank (Kentville) he is an active volunteer coach and mentor.

Beverly Johnson
Secretary, Middleton Representative

Serves on the Exceutive Committee as Secretary for the organization. Bev resides in the Middleton area and formally worked for the Federal Government in Toronto, Ontario for 33 years.

Dennis Jackson
Past Chair, AUBA Representative

Has served the organization and community for many years. Serves as the immediate Past Chair providing guidance and expertise on a variety of issues, Born and raised in the community of Inglewood in Bridgetown. Retired from the Canadian Armed Forces and is a resident of Gibson Woods.

Catherine Tolbart
Member at Large, Middleton Representative

Has served on the Executive Committee as the first Treasurer for the organization, Born and raised in Middleton, Nova Scotia. Received the Governor General's Award. Lived in Montreal for over 40 years, member of the Elks Club in Montreal where she held the rank of Major General.

Dr. Sharon Oliver
Member at large, Wolfville Representative

Sharon brings a diverse backgraound and expertise to the Board of Directors. A member of numerous Boards, her involvement in the Birchtown Historical Project has provided a great resource as VANSDA expands its community development inititatives.

Frances Mills-Clements
Member at Large, Bridgetown Representative

Known throughout the province, A long time community activist/volunteer and advocate, she has served on numerous boards and committees serving the interests of African Nova Scotians.

Dr. Rudolph Ffrench
Member at Large, Kentville Representative

A retired Professor and former Head of the Faculty of Economics at Acadia University, he resides in Kentville, NS. His current interests are directed to the integration of Black Business and entrepreneurs into the mainstream economic activities in the Province and Nationally.

Rita Jardine
Member at Large, Kingston Representative

Rita resides in Kingston, NS with her husband and daughter. An active community member and is employed as an Administrative Assistant at 14 Wing Greenwood.

Bette Salsman
Member at Large, Coldbrook Representative

Betty is serving in her first year as a member of the Board. She is a long time employee of the Nova Scotia Department of Community Services - Family and Children's Services Division.
