Mathieu Da Costa African Heritage Trail
The Mathieu Da Costa African Heritage Trail is a VANSDA initiated tourism and educational project. The central feature being a driving route spanning the entire Annapolis Valley and highlighting the contributions and achievements of African Nova Scotians to the western region of the province. The 'Trail', links communities and visitors in a unique multimedia tourism experience.


The Black History Month Association
The Black History Month Association is a society dedicated to the development and popularization of African Heritage Month, concentrated in- but not limited to-the Halifax/Dartmouth Metropolitan Area. The Association is open to ALL people and coordinates activities that promote the history, culture and accomplishments of Africans world wide


Black Loyalist Society of Nova Scotia
The Society was formally incorporated in 1991, when a few concerned citizens gathered in the interest of preserving Birchtown's historical significance, which was being threatened by a proposed Land Fill. They formed the Shelburne County Cultural Awareness Society, which changed its name in 1999 to the current Black Loyalist Heritage Society. Their offices are located at 104 Old Birchtown Road, in the center of a Site designated to honor our Black Loyalist ancestry. Also located on-site is the Black Burial Ground; St. Paul's Anglican Church; a Heritage Walking Trail and the Heritage Museum & gift shop.


Black Cultural Centre For Nova Scotia
The Society for the Protection and Preservation of Black Culture in Nova Scotia (better know as the Black Cultural Society) was incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1977. The Society consists of a 26 member Board of Directors, representing various Black communities in Nova Scotia with one representative of the African United Baptist Association. The organization operates the Black Cultural Centre.


The Provincial Black Basketball Association
The Provincial Black Basketball Association (PBBA), is a non-profit organization that is committed to the promotion of the game of basketball within the Black communities of Nova Scotia and across Canada at large. The PBBA Board of Directors are pleased to announce that this years Black Invitational Basketball Tournament will celebrate it's 38th Anniversary. The annual Black Invitational Basketball Tournament draws participants (players and spectators) from around the world and has become a major event on the African Canadian social calendar. The tournament weekend is a homecoming for many old friends and families, and allows them to enjoy the greatest basketball in the country, while celebrating the richness and strength of our community and cultural heritage. In addition to organizing and promoting the Black Invitational Basketball Tournament, the PBBA is also involved in various charitable works. The PBBA continues to make special donations within the Black communities to local churches, youth organizations and many other groups in our community.
