Joining Hands to Build Better Partnerships

VANSDA offers a variety of services and support systems to meet the needs of our diverse client base. Whether planning for school, looking for additional training or upgrading, creating a resume or in need of support in finding employemnt, VANSDA is your partner for success. Our professionally trained staff can assist clients navigate through employment changes or career adjustments. Clients are provided access to the employment services through one-on-one counseling or group workshops.

Through providing access to programs, partnerships and mentorship's, VANSDA assists individuals who require job placement and/or career guidance through the appropriate interventions of facilitated pre-employment workshops and information sessions including:

  • Job Readiness
  • Interview Techniques
  • Career Decision Making
  • Resume Creation
  • Skills Training Funding
  • Wage Subsidy Funding
  • Follow-Up Supports
  • Referrals to appropriate training programs and services

FUNDED PROGRAMS

With our focus on increasing employment opportunities in the Valley Region we are able to offer funding assistance with the following programs:

  • Workplace Orientation
  • Skills Development
  • Youth Skills

These allow us greater flexibility in improving the likelihood of success for clients as they progress through the employment search process and look to integrate into the workforce.

NON-FUNDED PROGRAMS

Open to all

VANSDA offers a series of workshops to its clients and community members. The workshops allow clients to expand their knowledge base on such topics like Career Decision Making and Resume Writing.

RESOURCES

VANSDA's resource library contains collection of books, pamphlets, periodicals, CAP Site and videos dealing with the topics of career self- assessment, resume and letter writing, using the telephone in your job search, interviewing skills, and effective networking assist our clients in their employability goal. We also attempt to maintain the most recent information provide by other African Nova Scotian organizations from around the province.
